Palo Santo wood is harvested from the twigs that fall from trees and has a very long maturation period of 5 to 10 years. Because only the fallen twigs are usable for wood extraction, trees are never felled unnecessarily. This also makes palo santo rarer, and the quality depends on the age of the tree.
